Birthday Cake from Singapore Airlines

Have you ever had a birthday cake at 37.000 feet above sea level?

We wish her a happy birthday in advance, and we wish you and her a wonderful journey ahead with us 🙂

Singapore Airlines

Those words became the closing statement from Singapore Airlines to my e-mail.

“Sas, don’t you know that we can request a birthday cake from SQ? Please request it for meee”, said Siska from whatsapp with a full of hope emoticon, in a night before our departure to Japan.

Pretty and delicious birthday cake from Singapore Airlines

Indeed, it was such a coincidence that our flight to Haneda Airport coincided with Siska’s birthday. I didn’t say ‘yes‘, nor did say ‘no‘. But at my heart, I said ‘of course, why not?‘.

At first, I didn’t know that SQ (Singapore Airlines) would like to give their passengers a cake on their important day, such as birthday, anniversary, and others. Upon a request of course, and it’s all free even for an economy class passenger, like me.

First thing first, I grabbed my smartphone and searched any information about that service. Starting from their website, instagram, as well as from articles from many blogs.

Evidently, it’s a piece of cake! We just have to send a request e-mail to sq_social@singaporeair.com.sg. Tell them what is your purpose clearly. In no time, SQ will send you an e-mail reply, ask for some confirmation, like booking reference number and full name of the passenger who will receive the cake. After all that, sit tight and wait for your flight, and be ready to have an unforgettable moment at 37.000 feet above sea level!

The day had came. We flew from Jakarta to Singapore, and then from Singapore to Japan. Siska’s birthday is on the second flight, from Singapore at May 2nd, 22:50 local time, and arrived in Japan at May 3rd, 06:45 local time. I waited until breakfast was served, but the cake hadn’t been served. I had accepted it if the cake was not served, because time has shown around 06:00, and the plane landed in a moment. But then, “happy birthday to you”, we heard voices from behind. Yeah, cabin crews approached us with a cake on one of their hands, with big smiles on their faces.

Siska got a birthday cake at 37.000 feet above sea level

Siska was so happy, and so was I! Having a birthday cake in the air was a new experience for us. What I appreciate, their services was so satisfying. From the start I sent an e-mail request, until the cake was served, that was all great. Even the cake was pretty and so delicious. Two thumbs up for Singapore Airlines!
